July 8, 2021 by dkane

Lynn Woods Summer Running worked around the lightning and rain to squeeze in its fifth session of the season this week.

Once again, there were three races — a kids’ race, a shorter adult race and a long adult race.

The kids race was a 1.57-mile run and Lynn 13-year-old Hannah Desilets got the win, finishing in 14:10. Just behind her in second place went to Saugus’ Katana O’Keefe (13, 14:11) while Salem’s Brooke Medico (14, 14:41) came in third. Rounding out the kids race was 5-year-old Melrose native Caroline Skeirik (15:17), 8-year-old Vivian Diamico (Saugus, 24:15) and 14-year-old Lynner Cody Phothisane (24:25).

Next up was the 2.49-mile adult run along the goat path to Steel Tower. This was a tight one, but Winthrop’s Cormac Macphail came out on top with a time of 17:35. Coming in right behind in the top five were Marblehead’s Tyson Miller (17:41), Lynn’s Kevin Baker (17:51), Lynn’s James Wilson III (17:54) and Lynnfield’s Brian Hutter (17:58). Rounding out the top-10 finishers were Warren Macphail (Winthrop, 18:25), Garrett McNeill (Lynnfield, 18:28), Andrew Skeirik (Melrose, 19:23) and Sean Osbahr (Nahant, 19:39).

The last race of the session was a 6.17-mile run called the Dam Run. Lynn’s Taban Manyok set the pace with an impressive first-place time of 38:02. Next up was Winthrop’s Nikolas Beshere in second place (41:38) and regular Lynn Woods competitor Nakri Dao (Lynn, 42:31) in third. The rest of the top-10 finishers were Erich O’Neil (Beverly, 46:21), Jessica Snyder (Woburn, 47:12), Eric Bowden (Lynn 47:14), Amy Damon (Lynn, 47:28), Jeff Hixon (Boxford, 47:39), Steve Dickenson (Nahant, 47:52) and Nathan Hammerschmit (Lynn, 50:02).
