LYNN — Youth track is finally making its way back to Manning Field.
The 7th annual Lynn Youth Summer Track Meets will be returning for all ages up to high school next week. No entry fee is required.
The meets, sponsored by Lynn Parks and Recreation, had over 360 children participate in 2019 before being canceled last year due to the pandemic.
Seven meets will be held spanning through July and August. Dates include July 12, 19 and 26 and Aug. 2, 9, 16 and 23. All meets begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held rain or shine.
Events include a 30-meter race for children ages 3 and younger and a 50-, 100-, 200-, 400- and 800-meter race and a one-mile race for all ages. Participants can participate in multiple events and assisted walks are allowed.
All runners will be pinned with a competitor number on the front of their shirt. Competitors will use this number each time they compete throughout events this summer. All spectators can gather in the bleachers or on the playing field and are asked to practice social distancing as well as bring a mask in case of the need for one.
Registration forms will be available at the race but time can be saved by finding one online at www.lwrun.org. Registration forms can also be acquired and questions can be answered by emailing Joe Abelon at [email protected].
