Anti-Semitic graffiti found in Lynnfield

July 21, 2021 by Anne Marie Tobin

LYNNFIELD — Town officials were notified Wednesday morning of the presence of anti-Semitic graffiti at Glen Meadow Park.

The graffiti included a swastika, the name “Hitler” and an obscene image. Police were immediately notified of the incident and documented the scene. After the scene was documented, the Department of Public Works painted over the offensive images.

This crime is under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Police Department at 781-334-3131.

In a statement released by the town Wednesday afternoon, town officials said they are confident that “the Police Department will, as it has in the past, take the necessary measures to successfully identify the perpetrators of this crime and hold them responsible.

“The Town of Lynnfield will not tolerate hate speech and discrimination and as Town officials, we condemn all acts that would seek to glorify the unspeakable atrocities committed under the Nazi regime against the Jewish community and other groups and those who would attempt to extend its legacy of hate,” the statement said.
