LYNN — Filming for the HBO Max limited series “Julia,” based on the life of beloved TV chef Julia Child, will return to Lynn on Wednesday.
Cast and crew members visited Lynn in early June to film scenes from the pilot at the Armory on the Commons.
This time around, the HBO series will bring classic cars to Exchange, Spring and Mt. Vernon streets, as the shooting is slated to depict elements of Child’s life during the 1960s, including production of “The French Chef,” her iconic television program.
The series is based in Cambridge, Mass. and stars two-time British Academy Television award winner Sarah Lancashire as Julia Child, and “Frasier” star David Hyde Pierce as Child’s husband, Paul.
The series also features Brittany Bradford, Fran Kranz, Fiona Glascott, Bebe Neuwirth, Isabella Rossellini and Jefferson Mays.
The production company, North Center Productions Inc., recently sent a letter to residents detailing how the filming will affect traffic patterns throughout the city, including restricted parking and street closures.
From Tuesday at 6 p.m. to Wednesday at 11 p.m. there will be no parking on Exchange Street from Broad to Union streets.
Cars will be towed on Exchange Street by 7 a.m. on Wednesday, and only foot traffic will be allowed on these parts of the street.
In addition, parts of Spring and Broad streets will be closed.
There will be no parking allowed in, or near, the Santander Bank at the corner of Exchange and Spring streets.
Parking will also be limited on parts of Washington and Union streets, as certain areas will be dedicated for film crew trucks and vehicles.
Members of North Center Productions Inc.’s location team said they are working closely with the city to obtain all necessary permits for the work and will have public safety personnel on site.
“We are very excited to be filming in your neighborhood and are looking forward to working closely with the community,” members of the location team said in a missive directed at city residents. “We are proud to be able to feature Lynn to a worldwide audience. We look forward to working with you and thank you in advance for your assistance.”
Filming is scheduled to end on Wednesday night, and traffic patterns will return to normal on Thursday.
