LYNN — Greater Lynn Senior Services (GLSS) is seeking volunteers for its Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, especially in Lynn and Saugus.
The program, which is funded by the state, sends certified, trained volunteers to visit every resident of the nursing and rest homes in Lynn, Lynnfield, Nahant, Saugus, Swampscott, Cambridge and Somerville. Volunteers speak with residents about their care, make sure their rights are respected and work to resolve any problems they find.
“GLSS is committed to ensuring that the state- and federally-mandated rights of every nursing home resident are protected,” said Program Manager Jillian O’Brien. “We are looking for people who are good listeners, advocates and problem-solvers.”
Volunteers receive training and certification through the state. GLSS provides ongoing support for volunteers.
