SWAMPSCOTT — The town will host its second “Swamptoberfest” event next month, bringing beer and entertainment to the Town Hall lawn.

The celebration will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4 and will include food and beverages from local vendors.

The first Swamptoberfest celebration was held in 2019, but was put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is organized by the Swampscott Beer Garden group, which also put together July’s Bent Water on the Beach event to raise money for maintenance of the Fish House. That event had over 1,000 attendees.

This year’s Swamptoberfest will feature beer from Boston-based Harpoon Brewing and wine from more than 90 local cellars. Food options will include hot dogs and pizza as well as offerings from food trucks Joe’s on a Roll, Melt and Whoo(pie) Wagon.

The event will also include live music from the L&M Rhythm Kings and Lois Lane and the Daily Planets.

This year, there will also be a kids’ play area including an inflatable slide and yard games, making the event family-friendly. There will be a fireworks display at 8 p.m.

Admission to the beer garden and play area is $5 per person, with a maximum of $20 per family.

The event is hosted by the town and the Swampscott Yacht Club.
