CAMBRIDGE — A 29-year-old Lynn man is facing charges after crashing his truck into another vehicle, causing it to fall into the Charles River on Tuesday morning.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., State Police responded to the crash on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, where they found a 2013 Subaru Outback station wagon in the Charles River; police said the station wagon had been struck by a Ford commercial pickup truck, which had caused the Subaru to go into the river.
The driver of the Subaru, a 40-year-old Burlington man, was helped from the water by a boater, and taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, state police said.
On Tuesday evening, State Police released a statement saying they plan to issue a summons for the Lynn man, charging him with failure to stop/yield and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
A witness told State Police troopers that they saw the truck run a traffic light and hit the Subaru, which caused it to veer off the road and go into the river, the statement said.
