SWAMPSCOTT — The town is seeking a resident to fill a vacancy on the Board of Health.
The position on the three-member board was vacated mid-term, so it will be filled by a member appointed jointly by the Select Board and remaining Board of Health members; the new member will serve until the April 2022 town-wide election.
The Board of Health performs duties relative to the protection of public health, sanitary living conditions, disease control, food-permit issuance, beach testing, solid waste, environmental protection and other issues.
In Swampscott, the board meets monthly, though it may meet more frequently as needed. The board also emphasizes a commitment to ensuring social and racial equity in envisioning initiatives, enforcing policies and setting regulations.
The town is especially seeking a member with a particular interest in environmental protection.
Applicants must be a Swampscott resident. Interested candidates should submit a resume and letter of interest by Sept. 10 to Allie Fiske at [email protected] or to Swampscott Town Hall, 22 Monument Ave.
