LYNN — North Shore Families Together Food Pantry has a new commercial refrigerator, thanks to Marblehead Harbor Rotary Club.
The food pantry has been providing nonperishable food items and supplies to local families since March 2020, but with the new fridge, the organization will now also be able to store and distribute fresh vegetables, fruits and dairy items.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Marblehead Harbor Rotary Club has made food insecurity its primary focus, working with Marblehead Food Pantry, Casa Mariposa in Lynn and Salem State University students.
The refrigerator was partially funded by a Rotary District grant and purchased at True Appliance, a discount appliance store in Salem. Salem Rotarian Bruce Whear, founding president and owner of Wire 4 Hire in Salem, as well as Tom Kulevich and Rick Cohen of Tri-City Sales in Salem, also consulted on the project.
