LYNN — The Lynn Cultural Council (LCC) is seeking new members to join the agency.
Chair Coco Alinsug said that members help individuals and organizations seeking grant funding to access those resources.
“The work of a Lynn Cultural Council member is to review those grants,” he said. “We know our city. Most of the applicants are from Lynn, so if we have questions we can call directly because we’re all from Lynn.”
The council generally has between six and 10 volunteer members who are appointed by the mayor for three-year terms, and they are currently seeking two or three new members. Members must be residents of Lynn but can come from any background, Alinsug said.
The LCC is an agency of the Massachusetts Cultural Council and provides grant funding to arts and humanities projects.
Alinsug added that anyone working on a project that they need funding for should apply, and LCC members will help them with the application to ensure that they are eligible.
“We say, just apply, there’s no right or wrong,” he said. “If you feel this is something we could help, just apply. We will help you tweak it a bit in order for you to qualify. That’s our job.”
Anyone interested can apply on the Lynn city website, lynnma.gov. For more information, call Alinsug at 781-913-3747.
