SWAMPSCOTT — A mosquito containing West Nile virus was found through a surveillance network in town, according to a statement from Town Hall.
West Nile virus is most transmitted through mosquito bites; people 50 years of age and older are most likely to get a severe case.
The town recommends that its citizens wear insect repellent, long-sleeved shirts, pants and socks; residents should be particularly cautious between dusk and dawn, when mosquitos are more active.
