PEABODY ― A.J. George Insurance Agency has entered into an agreement to join Duffy Insurance Agency at its 49 Margin St. office in Peabody.
In addition to moving into Duffy Insurance Agency’s office, the terms of the agreement state that Duffy will acquire the assets of A.J. George Insurance, and its president, Peter George, will join as a full-time member of Duffy’s team.

George Insurance Agency, and its customers into the Duffy Family of Insurance Agencies,” said Marc Duffy of Duffy Insurance Agency. “Peter and I have known each other a long time and have enjoyed a great relationship. Peter has worked very hard for a long time and I am really happy for him and his family.”
A.J. George Insurance Agency has offered home, auto, and small-business insurance in Peabody since 1959, when it was opened by Peter George’s uncle, Anthony George.
Peter George’s father, Nicholas, joined the agency shortly after it opened, and it was incorporated in 1978.
Peter George took over as president and owner of the agency in 2005, and his son, Anthony, joined the agency in 2015.
Peter George said it is great to now be a part of the Duffy team.
“Having access to more insurance companies and the resources of Duffy Insurance will be a win for both me and my customers,” said George.
Founded in Lynn in 1996 by the late Paul Duffy, Duffy Insurance is a family insurance agency that serves personal and commercial insurance customers throughout Massachusetts.
The A.J. George Insurance Agency is the second merger/acquisition of 2021 that Duffy Insurance has successfully completed.
Duffy Insurance said it continues to look to acquire and partner with high-quality independent agencies and agency owners in Massachusetts who are considering perpetuation options.
The insurance agency has office locations in Lynn, Gloucester, Peabody, Chelmsford, Georgetown, and Marblehead.
