Football Roundup: St. Mary’s lights it up in big win over Bellingham

The St. Mary’s football team snapped one of the longest winning streaks in Massachusetts Friday night, traveling on the road to put a 62-14 hurting on non-conference foe Bellingham to remain undefeated on the young season.

The Spartans were led by the stellar play of multi-sport star David Brown Jr., who scored five touchdowns on the day. Brown rushed for four touchdowns and returned a punt for another. 

Also contributing to the win on the offensive side were quarterback Ali Barry and running back Derek Coulanges, with Barry rushing for two touchdowns and Coulanges rushing for one. Alef Potter also had a solid night, returning a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown.

St. Mary’s (2-0) plays on the road at Bishop Feehan next Friday (6).

FOOTBALL

Marblehead 54, Lynn Classical 20

The Magicians notched their 11th straight victory overall with a big win at Piper Field. 

Quarterback Josh Robertson was huge once again, leading Marblehead with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Running back Connor Cronin added three touchdowns on the ground for the Magicians, while James Galante rushed for one touchdown and returned a punt for another.

Marblehead (2-0) hosts North Andover next Friday (7).

Darren Omoregie had a solid day for the Rams in the loss, catching two touchdown passes. Quarterback Brian Vaughan Jr. threw for a pair of touchdowns. 

Classical (1-1) travels to Somerville next Friday (7).

Revere 34, Chelsea 0

Revere (1-1) travels to Medford next Friday (6).

Winthrop 23, Austin Prep 21

Evan Rockefeller rushed for his first career varsity touchdown in the win for the Vikings, while Mikey Chaves had a touchdown reception as well as an interception that he returned for a touchdown. Robert Noonan threw one touchdown pass.

Winthrop (1-1) plays on the road at Medway next Friday (6).
