LYNN — Councilor-at-Large candidate Marven Hyppolite has received endorsements from community organizations IUE-CWA Local 201 and Neighbor to Neighbor.
Adam Kaszynski, the president of Local 201 — which represents thousands of General Electric (GE) retirees and about 1,600 active members working at GE and Lynn’s wastewater treatment plant — said Hyppolite, a caseworker in U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton’s office, understands the challenges working people face in this city around schools, good jobs, public safety and housing for all.
“Marven has been our go-to guy at the congressman’s office to solve problems for our members — time after time he gets things done with results,” Kaszynski said. “Our members are fighting every day to make sure good union jobs stay in Lynn and that the people who live in this city can afford to stay here. Marven doesn’t just talk the talk; he is there fighting alongside us.”
Neighbor to Neighbor, a statewide community group with 15,000 members, expressed its support for Hyppolite, saying he has been a core leader in Neighbor to Neighbor’s Lynn chapter for years.
Gabe Cohen-Glinick, Neighbor to Neighbor’s Lynn organizer, said Hyppolite has a proven track record of working with the organization to advocate for safe and affordable housing for all, good jobs, fully-funded public schools, and affordable child care and health care.
“We desperately need Marven’s voice in City Hall to represent all people of Lynn, particularly the working class, immigrants, and people of color, and to bring a forward-looking vision for what our city can be,” Cohen-Glinick said.
Having worked alongside these groups for years to support the city’s working class, Hyppolite said he is honored to have received their endorsements.
“When unions and community groups come together with a vision for a city that works for everyone, we are unstoppable,” Hyppolite said. “As a city councilor, my job will be to bring the interests of workers and all of our diverse communities into City Hall, and make sure that Lynn residents have a say in the decisions that impact us.”
