The Lynn Classical volleyball team had plenty on the line Monday evening ― an undefeated record, a winning streak and possession of first place in the Greater Boston League ― and the Rams left the game with everything still intact.
After dropping the first two sets on the road at Malden, Classical rallied with three straight set victories to take home a 3-2 win. The Rams won by set scores of 13-25, 26-28, 25-19, 25-13, and 15-11.
“For us, a win like this just shows who we are as a team,” said Classical coach Chris LeBlanc. “In the first two sets we were playing on our heels and reacting to everything Malden did, but in the last three sets, we really played our own brand of volleyball. We had a lot riding on this game, and the girls stepped up big time.”
Senior captain Chloe Clement stepped up in a big way for Classical, notching 12 kills and leading the way from the service line. Senior captain Reese Brinkler also had a strong game in the victory.
Classical (7-0) takes on cross-town rival Lynn English Wednesday evening (5:30).
