Football Roundup: St. Mary’s takes down rival Bishop Fenwick in overtime

The St. Mary’s football team needed overtime to pull out the win over Catholic Central League rival Bishop Fenwick, taking the Crusaders down 21-19 in extra time on the road at Donaldson Stadium. 

Derek Coulanges had a big game on the ground for the Spartans with two rushing touchdowns, while Ali Barry also rushed for a touchdown in the win.

Fenwick (3-1) plays on the road at Cardinal Spellman Friday (6:30).

Steven Woods threw for a touchdown and ran for another in the loss, while Jason Romans and Troy Irizarry each had a touchdown reception.

St. Mary’s (4-0) hosts Bishop Stang Friday (7:30).

FOOTBALL

Lynn Classical 32, Medford 0

Quarterback Brian Vaughan Jr. led the offensive attack in the win for the Rams, throwing for more than 200 yards and four touchdowns. Kyle Durant and Marquese Avery each had two touchdown receptions in the victory.

Classical (3-1) plays on the road at Everett Friday (6).

Lynn Tech 40, Georgetown 26

The Tigers put together 400 yards of total offense in the victory Friday night.

Quarterback Tyler David rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns on the night, while running back Regner Nival rushed for 310 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Ethan Prum added a touchdown run in the win for the Tigers.

Lynn Tech (1-3) has a bye week before returning to action Saturday, Oct. 16 (1) at home against South Shore Tech.

Newburyport 34, Lynnfield 6

Lynnfield (2-1) will get an extra day of rest this week before facing Hamilton-Wenham on the road Saturday (2:30).

St. John’s Prep 40, Bridgewater-Raynham 14

St. John’s Prep (4-0) travels to Malden Catholic Friday (6).

Salem 15, Gloucester 6

The Witches defeated Gloucester for the first time in 22 years Friday night. 

Jariel DelValle and Michael Ready each rushed for a touchdown in the win.

Salem (3-1) hosts Saugus Friday (6).
