School Sports Roundup: Bishop Fenwick girls soccer upsets top-ranked Bishop Feehan

The Bishop Fenwick girls soccer team notched the marquee win of the season Friday afternoon, knocking off Catholic Central League foe and No. 1-ranked team in Massachusetts Bishop Feehan by a score of 1-0. 

Ally Mitchell scored the lone goal in the win for the Crusaders, while goalkeeper Claudia Keith earned the shutout in net. 

Fenwick (4-0-3) hosts Cardinal Spellman Monday (4).

GIRLS SOCCER

Revere 7, Boston International 0

Carolina Bettero led the way with three goals in the win for the Patriots, while Nahomy Galvez scored two goals. 

Revere (6-1-1) travels to Somerville Tuesday (4).

Swampscott 3, Manchester-Essex 0

Sophie DiGrande had one goal and one assist in the win, while Abby Eichler and Laine Foutes each had one goal. Priya Cooper added two assists in the win, while goalie Lillian Gosselin had five saves.

Swampscott (3-2-2) plays on the road at Essex Tech Saturday (2:30).

BOYS SOCCER

Essex Tech 4, St. Mary’s 3

The Spartans battled back from a two-goal deficit to tie the score late, but Essex Tech was able to get the final goal to hand St. Mary’s the loss. 

St. Mary’s (4-4-2) returns to the field Wednesday (5:30) against Archbishop Williams.

GOLF

Gloucester 37, Marblehead 35

Despite a solid performance, the Magicians dropped another close match on the road Friday. 

Matt Weed was the medalist after shooting a 34 and winning his match 6-3, while Charlie Grenier and Jacob Hershfield each shot 35. Jack Sontz won his match 6-3, while Chris Cannuscio tied his match 4 1/2-4 1/2.

Marblehead (6-4) travels to Saugus Monday (3:30).

Swampscott 38 1/2, Salem 33 1/2

The Big Blue got wins from Lou Spellios (5-4), Will Roddy (5-4), Nate Maercklein (6-3), Dakoda Langervain (5-4) and Jackson Bartram (6 1/2-2 1/2). 

Swampscott (5-3) plays on the road at Winthrop Monday (4).

FIELD HOCKEY

Marblehead 3, Saugus 0

Jane O’Neil scored two goals for the Magicians, while Peighton Ridge added one goal. Grace MacLean and Lillie Salisbury each had one assist.

Marblehead (3-3-1) travels to Beverly Monday (4).

Swampscott 4, Gloucester 0

Sydney Marshall scored two goals in the win for the Big Blue, while Olivia Baran and Meghan O’Brien each scored one goal. Brooke Waters, Isabella Modica and Coco Clopton each had one assist.

Swampscott (6-2-1) hosts Danvers Monday (4).

VOLLEYBALL

St. Mary’s 3, Salem 0

The Spartans won in straight sets by competitive scores of 28-26, 26-24, 25-23. 

St. Mary’s (5-4) hosts Malden Catholic Tuesday (5). 

Peabody 3, Medford 1

The Tanners won by set scores of 25-13, 21-25, 25-16, 25-9.

Abby Bettencourt had a big game with 37 assists and four kills, while Sarah Broughton and Isabel Bettencourt each had 11 kills and five aces. Ally Flewelling had eight kills and three aces, Kristina Cardello had 19 digs and Lauryn Mendonca had five kills.

Peabody (5-3) travels to Swampscott Tuesday (5:30).
