Boston man admits to armed robberies in Lynn, Revere

October 5, 2021 by Gayla Cawley

BOSTON — A 36-year-old Boston man admitted to robbing banks in Lynn and Concord and a clothing store in Revere as part of his guilty plea Monday in federal court.

Angel Robles pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery in connection with a robbery he committed at a Citizens Bank in Concord. He was indicted on Jan. 14, 2021, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

On Nov. 9, 2020, Robles entered the Citizens Bank and handed a teller a note that read “Robbery, only read to die on a death wish.” On that occasion, he stole about $358 before fleeing the bank, prosecutors said.

Robles has also admitted to committing three other robberies on the North Shore.

On Aug. 3, 2020, Robles robbed a Metro PCS in Lynn at gunpoint; he held a gun against the clerk’s back before stealing $4,000 from a safe and fleeing the store, prosecutors said.

On Oct. 17, 2020, he and an accomplice robbed a clothing store in the Northgate Shopping Plaza in Revere; in that instance, five North Face jackets, valued at $1,500, were stolen. When a clerk tried to stop Robles, he reportedly said “If anyone comes at me, I’m going to shoot s*** up.” When the clerk tried again to stop him, Robles told the clerk to “Back up before I stab you,” prosecutors said.

On Oct. 28, 2020, Robles stole $5,000 from a Citizens Bank inside a Stop & Shop in Lynn. Surveillance video shows Robles brandishing a handgun during the robbery, prosecutors said.

Robles is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 27, 2020. He faces up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

The guilty plea was jointly announced Tuesday by the U.S. Attorney’s office, the FBI-Boston Division, and police chiefs from Lynn, Concord and Saugus.
