To the editor:
On Friday, Oct. 1 the Friends of the Swampscott Public Library hosted a retirement party in my honor on the Town Green.
I would like to thank everyone who planned, produced, and provided the refreshments for this event. It was a very special day, one that I will never forget. I was extremely pleased to have had state Sen. Brendan Crighton and Town Administrator Sean Fitzgerald speak at the event, as well as Ellen Winkler, a member of the Board of Library Trustees; Gail Brock, the president of the Friends of the Library, and Susan Conner, assistant director of the Swampscott Library.
I would like to extend a special thank you to the Friends of the Swampscott Public Library, especially Gail Brock, Alison Kenney, Susan Buchanan, Julie Butters, Ellen Winkler, Beverly Shank, Izzi Abrams, and Janina Majeran, who worked very hard to put on this party.
Of course, I cannot forget to thank my staff at the library who have been so supportive to me over the years. It was really a special day to be able to celebrate my retirement with all the friends that I have met.
I have been involved over the years in many book groups: the Dinner Detectives, Afternoon Tea and Books, Themed Reads, Food for Thought Cookbooks, and the latest, the Non-Fictioneers.
Along with my Practically Speaking English Group and my Needlers (knitting group), I have met many wonderful people who have become more than patrons — they have become friends.
Thank you all so much for making my last 38 years so wonderful.
