LYNN ― Mayoral candidate, and current School Committee member, Jared Nicholson led his opponent, City Council President Darren Cyr, in funds raised during the month of September.
Nicholson’s monthly campaign funding surpassed Cyr’s for the first time since the two announced their runs for mayor in March.
Nicholson saw a total of $13,159.32 toward his campaign during the month of September, while Cyr saw a total of $6,228.58.
Of those September donations, about 57 percent of Nicholson’s were from Lynn residents, while about 65 percent of Cyr’s were from Lynn residents.
Nicholson’s September donations varied from $25 to $1,000, with four separate $1,000 donations.
These $1,000 donations came from Stephen Nicholson and Terence Rushfirth of Sudbury, Amy Butterworth of Lynn, and Andrian Shapiro of Newton.
Cyr’s September funding came in the form of $25 to $500 donations, with seven separate donations of $500.
Some of Cyr’s top donors during the month of September include Charles Patsios and Dorothy E. Andrews of Swampscott, Eugene Clements of Peabody, Harvey Cohen of Marblehead, Jane Hinds and Michael J. Marks of Lynn, and Matthew T. Philbin of Nahant.
As of Sept. 30, Nicholson’s campaign had $23,339.01 on hand, while Cyr’s campaign had $16,432.13, according to the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF).
Cyr raised the most amount of money for his campaign during the month of May, bringing in more than $46,622, while Nicholson brought in $8,473.03 during that month.
The month of July saw the most funds donated to Nicholson’s campaign, bringing in $17,162.79, compared to Cyr, who brought in $19,229.24 that month.

The final election is on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. The last day to register to vote for this election is on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m.
