School Sports Roundup: Lynn English golf heads into GBL Championship on a high note

The Lynn English Bulldogs golf team was able to secure a 42-30 win over Everett on Thursday.

Alex MacMillan, Timmy Donahue, Billy Deveaux, Diggy Rodriquez, and Justin Barrows won their matches for the Bulldogs.

MacMillan and John Crowley will represent Lynn English on Friday as they participate in the Greater Boston League Championship at Unicorn Golf Course.

GOLF

Arlington Catholic 180, St. Mary’s 164

Sean Mathers was the top scorer in the loss for the Spartans, notching 33 points. Owen Giangrande (28 points), Alex Chaisson (22 points), Stephen Nason (21 points), Brendan Zollo (20), Luke DiLisio (20 points), Kyle Rush (20 points) and Andrew Potter (18 points) also played well in the loss.

St. Mary’s, which finishes the season at 5-11, will be represented at Friday’s Catholic Central League Championship by Mathers and Aidan Emmerich.

Salem 38 1/2, Saugus 33 1/2

Jon Wasserman, Jack Doyle, Diego Acuna, Owen Warner Streff, and Harry Devoe won their matches as the Witches qualified for the state tournament.

Salem finished the season 8-8.

BOYS SOCCER

Lynn Classical 1, Everett 1

Irmer Barrios scored for the Rams who play Malden on Tuesday (4).

KIPP 3, Nashoba Tech 0

Marco Escober found the back of the net twice and Jeff Paz had a goal and an assist for the Panthers on Thursday night to make them 9-3 this season.

KIPP’s next match is against Salem on Friday, when Panthers head coach Jon Langlois will face off against his former assistant coach, Padraic Slattery (4).

Medford 2, Revere 0

The Patriots are now 5-6-3 and face Chelsea on Tuesday (7).

BC High 3, St. John’s Prep 0

The Eagles couldn’t overcome a 2-0 halftime deficit and BC High was crowned the Catholic Conference League champion. 

St. John’s Prep (6-3-3) hosts North Andover Saturday afternoon (2).

GIRLS SOCCER

Lynn Classical 2, Everett 0

Delaney Dana kicked off the scoring for the Rams with Lauren Wilson also finding the back of the net.

Lynn Classical is now 12-0-2 this season and faces Malden on Tuesday (5:30).

FIELD HOCKEY

Peabody 6, Revere 1

Jackie Scopa had a hat trick on Thursday with Siobhan Smith finding the back of the net twice against the Patriots. 

The Tanners face Gloucester on Friday (4). 

Bishop Fenwick 6, Northeast Regional 0

Gianna Roberto, Kate McPhail, Abi Bruner and Ruby Cahill scored their first varsity goals and senior captain Kailey Silva had a goal and two assists on Thursday night.

The Crusaders are now 9-2-2 and play Manchester Essex on Tuesday (4).

VOLLEYBALL

Arlington Catholic 3, Bishop Fenwick 2

Even with strong efforts from Ella Andrews and Maisie Dunn, the Crusaders fell to 9-6 and will play Bishop Stang on Saturday (4).
