SWAMPSCOTT — Firefighters responded to a single-alarm fire at 85 Phillips Beach Ave on Friday night. Nobody was injured during the fire.
The fire was inside of a wall on the second floor of the home, said Swampscott Fire Department’s Capt. Steven Greenbaum. The firefighters received a call about the fire and dispatched to the scene at 6:13 p.m. The owners of the house were not present at the time of the fire.
“The guys got right in there and struck it down,” Greenbaum said. “We were able to contain it to a small area.”
Greenbaum said that while damage to the physical structure seemed minimal, there seemed to be extensive water damage to the house.
The fire’s cause is currently under investigation.
