The St. Mary’s football team celebrated its seniors in a big way Friday night at Manning Field, notching a 41-7 victory over Arlington Catholic in a Catholic Central League bout.
Prior to the game, the Spartans honored their group of six seniors ― Ali Barry, Donovan Clark, DJ Clay, Martin Marange, Kervantz Justine, and Kenson Justine ― for their contributions to the program.
The Spartans didn’t waste any time, as Barry hit Jack Marks on a 53-yard pass on the very first play to put St. Mary’s in the red zone. David Brown Jr. finished things off, breaking free and running one in from 13 yards out to put the Spartans up 7-0.
The Barry-to-Marks connection came through again a few minutes later, as Marks caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Barry to put St. Mary’s up by two touchdowns.
Barry added one more touchdown pass in the first quarter, hitting Nick Sacco on a 25-yard score to give the Spartans a commanding 21-0 lead after one.
After Barry and Clark each rushed for a touchdown in the second quarter, the Spartans took a 35-0 lead into the half.
Clay added one final touchdown run in the second half to round out the scoring for the Spartans.
St. Mary’s (6-0) plays on the road at Cardinal Spellman Friday (6:30).
