New Lynn Coalition to host forum for mayor and councilor at large candidates

LYNN ― The New Lynn Coalition of unions and community organizations will hold a “People’s Assembly” election forum with both mayoral and councilor-at-large candidates at the Lynn Museum on Wed., Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. .

The coalition, which includes 15 community and labor organizations, has built a tradition of hosting a large forum that focuses on the key issues of their partner groups in the closing days of the campaign.

In the mayoral part of the discussion, the two candidates ― City Council President Darren Cyr and School Committee member Jared Nicholson ― will be asked questions generated by the coalition, and will have the opportunity to ask one question of each other.

Each New Lynn Coalition affiliate is invited to bring two representatives and each participating candidate will be invited to bring one additional person from their campaigns.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the crowd inside the museum will be limited to 50 people.

Those who can not attend can watch the discussion on an outside screen in the museum’s park where light refreshments will be served, or can watch on Facebook Live.

The Spanish translation will be on the Facebook page of the Lynn Latino Leadership Council at tinyurl.com/AsambleaDelPueblo, and the English version of the program will be viewed at facebook.com/newlynncoalitionma.
