LYNN — School Committee member Jared Nicholson has received an endorsement from the North Shore and Merrimack Valley Building Trades Council for his mayoral campaign.
The Council said Nicholson shares their vision for an inclusive economic-development process in the city that not only increases the city’s tax base, but looks to bring jobs to residents and opportunities for the graduates of Lynn high schools.
“We share Jared’s vision to make sure that future growth in Lynn works for all Lynn residents through a planning process that’s smart, inclusive, and equitable,” said President of the North Shore and Merrimack Valley Building Trades Council Chris Brennan.
The Council said it is ready to work with Nicholson to make sure Lynn’s future development works for everyone.
“We unanimously endorsed Jared for mayor because (of) his history of advocacy on behalf of the hardworking men and women of the city of Lynn,” said Tim Fandel, business manager of Plumbers and Gasfitters Local 12.
Nicholson said his campaign is excited to have this endorsement.
“Making the most of our opportunity for growth in Lynn means including working people,” Nicholson said. “The Council’s support of the coalition we’re building means a great deal for our goal of positive growth that includes all of us.”
Nicholson is running against City Council President Darren Cyr for mayor.
The city election is on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
