PEABODY — City Clerk Allyson Danforth has released important information for voters concerning the Nov. 2 general election.
Danforth said that mail-in ballots have been sent out to all residents who requested them. Those ballots must be returned to City Hall by election day. Residents who have not received their mail-in ballots are advised to contact the City Clerk’s office at 978-538-5756.
Early voting will take place at City Hall, 24 Lowell St. on the following dates: Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For those voting on Election Day, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations: Ward 1 ― Precincts 1, 2, 3, at the Brown School, 150 Lynn St.; Ward 2 ― Precincts 1, 2, 3, at the Welch School, 50 Swampscott Ave.; Ward 3 ― Precincts 1, 2, 3, at the Torigian Senior Center, 75R Central St.; Ward 4 ― Precincts 1, 2, 3, at Higgins Middle School, 85 Perkins St.; Ward 4 ― Precinct 3A, at the MacIntosh Clubhouse, 300 Brooksby Village Drive; Ward 5 ― Precincts 1, 2, 3, at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, 485 Lowell St.; Ward 6 ― Precincts 1, 2, 3, at the Burke School, 127 Birch St.
By state law, absentee ballots must be requested in writing at least 4 business days before Election Day. Applications are available for download below, but any written request is acceptable if it has your signature on it. For absentee ballot applications, a family member may also make the request.
To qualify for an absentee ballot, voters must be away from his/her city/town on Election Day, have a disability that keeps them from voting at his/her designated polling place, or have a religious belief that prevents the voter from voting at his/her designated polling place on election day
Applications can be submitted by mail, email, or fax. If you are emailing your application, you may either scan or take a photo of your signed application and email it to your local election office, or you may sign your application using a mouse, finger, or stylus and email the completed and signed attachment. Typed signatures are not acceptable.
