The No. 17 St. John’s Prep boys soccer team won its second straight road game of the Division 1 tournament and defeated No. 1 Hingham 2-1 on Tuesday night in the Round of 16.
Mark Patturelli scored both goals for the Eagles in the win. Both goals were scored within the first 15 minutes of the match. Tuesday was also the first time all season that Hingham had allowed more than one goal. Goalkeeper Joey Waterman had nine saves to secure the victory.
St. John’s Prep (12-4-4) will now play No. 9 Brookline in the Division 1 quarterfinal round at a date and time to be determined.
In field hockey, the No. 9 Bishop Fenwick Crusaders suffered a heartbreaking defeat on Tuesday night as they fell to No. 8 Longmeadow 1-0.
The match was scoreless all the way until the fourth quarter. With five minutes left, Longmeadow earned a penalty stroke and Audrey Oh found the back of the net, which gave Longmeadow the lead.
The Crusaders finish the season at 13-3-4.
