MARBLEHEAD — The Police Department is asking for any information about racist and anti-Semitic graffiti that was found on a shipping container at the Transfer Station property on Saturday.
A Marblehead public health agent reported the graffiti on Saturday. The spray-painted graffiti included racist and anti-Semitic messaging, which was immediately covered by staff from the town’s Health Department, police said.
The incident remains under investigation. A police officer responded to the report and documented it. The graffiti appeared to be recent, police said.
Police canvassed the area of the Transfer Station, which is on Woodfin Terrace; however, no additional graffiti or possible suspects were located at that time.
“These hateful acts will not be tolerated within the Marblehead community and our department will deploy all available resources to identify and prosecute those responsible,” said the Marblehead Police Department in a statement, which was issued to the public on Monday. “We strongly encourage the reporting of like incidents.”
The Police Department is asking the public for any tips about this incident. Anyone with information should contact the Marblehead Police Department at 781-631-1212 and ask for Detective Sgt. Sean Brady.
