SALEM — The suspect in a shooting that left the perpetrator dead and the victim critically injured Monday night has been identified as a 55-year-old man from New Hampshire, the Essex County District Attorney’s office said.
Authorities said the suspect, Richard Lorman, of Wilton, N.H., was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at 3 Technology Way; police had responded there after receiving calls for multiple shots fired at the address, the DA’s office said.
A woman, who had been visiting the office of a manufacturing company she worked for, was found with a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken on a medical flight to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries, the DA’s office said.
The woman and man involved in the shooting knew each other, authorities said, but the nature of their relationship has not been disclosed. The identity of the woman has not been released, but police said Monday night that there was some indication that she was also from New Hampshire.
The shooting is under investigation by the DA’s office, Salem Police, and the Essex State Police Detective Unit. No further information is available at this time, the DA’s office said.
