Pine Hill Civic Association to host craft fair at Lynn school

November 19, 2021 by Allysha Dunnigan

LYNN — The Pine Hill Civic Association is hosting its first-ever outdoor craft fair in the front lot at Sewell-Anderson Elementary School on Saturday.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., more than 20 vendors will fill the front schoolyard of Sewell-Anderson. The local North Shore vendors include homemade crafts, beauty products, homemade candles, personalized throw towels and blankets, and food and dessert vendors.

There will also be a table with two young vendors from Lynn who are selling slime and glitter-fairy necklaces.

The vendors will keep the profits from selling their goods, but the money they had to pay the Pine Hill Civic Association for a table at the fair will go to a family in need this holiday season.

President of the Pine Hill Civic Association Josh Polonsky said the Association will sponsor a family for Christmas, using the money raised from the fair to buy items on the family’s wish list.

“Some families don’t have the opportunity to get anything for Christmas,” Polonsky said. “So we try to get them everything on their wish list.”

The Association will also be selling custom, reusable bags to raise money for the family it is  sponsoring.

This idea came from a longtime member of the Association, Ruth Burke, who crafts and owns her own small business; she asked if the Association could host a craft fair.

Polonsky said the Association has been focusing on kid-centric events for a while now, but he wanted to bring back events that are for adults as well.

“There are plenty of Pine Hill residents without kids, or with grown kids, so I wanted to include them in some of the events too,” Polonsky said. “This feels like more of an adult event, but it is also kid-friendly too.”

The event is open to the public and will be postponed to Sunday if there is rain on Saturday.
