NAHANT — The Town Hall will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for school-aged children, following a recent Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children ages 5-11.
Children who are 5 years old or older and a Nahant resident are able to receive a vaccine, regardless of where they attend school.
“We are happy to announce that we will be having a COVID vaccine clinic for school-aged children at the Nahant Town Hall,” the town announced in a press release. “A big thank you to the Johnson School nurse Cheryl Dilisio, our health nurse Deb Murphy and Cataldo Ambulance for their help in putting this together.”
The Clinic will be held at Town Hall on Nov. 30, 3-8 p.m. for first doses, and Dec. 21 from 3-8 p.m. for the second dose.
After the FDA authorized the Pfizer vaccine for children 5 and older, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released their guidelines for vaccinating children and teens against COVID-19, which can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/children-teens.html.
The town has four phone lines available to help elderly residents with the online registration process for any vaccine. The four hotline numbers are 781-581-7557, 781-771-8222, 781-771-5632, or 781-771-6230 during normal Town Hall hours, Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
This specific clinic will be by appointment only. Registration for an appointment can be done online and parental consent is required for children ages 5-17.
“Thank you to our team at the Johnson Elementary School and our Public Health Department,” said Town Administrator Antonio Barletta. “I also want to thank our neighboring communities for their partnership on this effort.”
