LYNN — State Police are investigating after a 76-year-old Lynn man was struck and killed by a Jeep on the Lynnway Tuesday night.
State Police said the man was crossing the Lynnway in the crosswalk when he was struck by a 2007 Jeep Commander that was traveling southbound at the intersection of Newhall Street.
Police responded to the crash at 6:44 p.m. First responders administered emergency first aid to the man, who has not been identified, at the scene. He was taken to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, State Police said.
The driver of the Jeep, a 32-year-old man from Lynn, remained at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time, State Police said.
The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and Essex County detectives. The Lynn Fire Department also provided assistance at the scene.
