LYNN — Brian Boisson will be looking to turn around the Lynn Jets hockey program in 2021.
Boisson will be behind the bench for the Jets beginning this season after a disappointing year that saw them fail to get a win.
“The past two years have been a struggle,” he said. “We all know that the numbers have been low. As of right now, we have 15 solid high school players. We also have some middle school kids who will be playing on the varsity (team) this year. With the youth hockey numbers right now, it’s only good for the high school team at this point for the future, knowing that we will have a team and we’ve got a good solid group of kids coming up.”
If anyone would know about the youth hockey landscape in Lynn, it’s Boisson. He is the current Lynn Youth Hockey president.
Lynn Classical legend Joe Gunning will be helping out the head coach and is excited to see what he can do with the team.
“I think Brian (Boisson) is going to do a good job,” Gunning said. “I think we have a schedule that looks pretty good for an independent schedule. The Greater Boston League (GBL) is going to be tough. It’s always tough but we should have a few wins this year.”
Gunning went on to say that along with Boisson, he hopes to build the Jets up to the teams of prior years and get back on track.
“It’s going to be a lot of work, but I think the kids are ready for it,” Boisson said. “We will try and turn things around.”
