The Catholic Central League announced its all-stars and awards for the 2021 field hockey season on Monday, and several local players earned all-star honors.
Bishop Fenwick had four players named to the all-star team in senior Grace Morey, senior Kailey Silva, senior Emma Perry and junior Zoe Elwell. Perry was one of the top scorers on the North Shore, putting up 19 goals to go along with four assists for the Crusaders. She was only outscored in total points by Morey, who finished the year with seven goals and 14 assists. Morey and Silva each earned their second CCL all-star selections of their careers, while Perry and Elwell were first-time selections.
For St. Mary’s, two players — juniors Yirsy Queliz and Maggie Pierce — were selected to the all-star team. Both juniors recorded several multi-goal games during the season, with Pierce leading the team in goals. Both Queliz and Pierce were selected to their second CCL all-star teams, which is made only more impressive when taking into account the fact that the Spartans have only been a varsity program for two seasons.
In terms of major awards, Bishop Feehan sophomore Ava Meehan — who made her second CCL all-star team in her short career — was named CCL MVP.
The rest of the CCL all-stars for the 2021 field hockey season were Kathryn Karo, Lily O’Neill and Caroline Melanson (Austin Prep); Judith Bonneau and Hannah Fortin (Bishop Stang); and Grace Klingaman, Sam Blette, Kay Murphy and Sammy Buonnocorsi (Bishop Feehan).
