“You the real MVP.”
That’s what basketball superstar Kevin Durant said in his 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player speech referencing all the work his mom did to get him to that position.
Durant isn’t the only one who holds that sentiment, as moms really do it all. They take care of us our entire lives and are there whenever we need them. This mother that wrote to Item Santa has gone above and beyond for her family, once again proving there is no love like the kind from your mom.
Both her husband and mother have dealt with health problems this past year.
“My husband had a health scare and because of it he is not working at the moment so now all the bills are on me,” she wrote. “That is including my 45-year-old mother with multiple health problems, which includes three surgeries this year alone.”
The Christmas season isn’t all about getting gifts. It’s not about giant bows on new cars or fighting with others over the next hot, new, limited-release item on “Black Friday.”
It’s about generosity and helping those around you. It’s about giving food or money to the homeless person you might see on your way to work. Maybe you can help out an older neighbor with a home project, or dial the phone to say hello to a loved one you haven’t talked to in a while.
This mother is looking for just a little help to give her 3-year-old child the Christmas they deserve: to run over to the Christmas tree amazed at what Santa brought them and anxiously unwrap the toy they’ve been wanting. They, along with the rest of us, deserve the joy of opening presents with their family and the countless memories that come with the holiday.
But this mother also deserves the joy of seeing her child filled with joy and excitement. This hardworking and dedicated mother has kept her family afloat against all odds. She deserves Christmas joy as well.
“Needless to say, a gift or two would be greatly appreciated,” she said.
