Saugus student posts school-shooting threat

December 10, 2021 by Allysha Dunnigan

SAUGUS — A Saugus High School student posted a photo with a gun on Snapchat that said “2:30 tmo Essex Tech” on Friday afternoon.

The Saugus Police Department has determined that the post does not pose a credible threat and the student spent the remainder of the day with Saugus High School administration and police.

Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School had security and administration circulating through the building and an increased police presence on campus on Friday.

“The safety and welfare of our students and staff is our first priority,” Essex Tech said in a Facebook post. “School safety is a collective effort with all stakeholders and we appreciate those who stepped forward (today).”

Essex Tech has school counseling staff available for any student who needs to talk to someone.
