SWAMPSCOTT — The Senior and Veteran Work-Off Abatement Program, which pairs Town of Swampscott departments with residents who can assist with year-round or one-off special project needs, has returned this year per an announcement on Tuesday.
Senior and veteran residents involved in the program can receive a credit of up to $1,500 toward their property-tax bill.
The program aims to help improve municipal services by utilizing the unique and broad range of skills of eligible residents. Volunteers are paired with departments to help with a wide range of projects including clerical support, serving meals at the Senior Center, gardening, general labor, light outdoor work, supporting various recreation events and library aides
Those who wish to apply must be 60 years or older or a veteran. They must be a homeowner in Swampscott and occupy their property.
Applications are accepted year-round, though volunteer space is limited. Applicants are encouraged to apply by Dec. 31.
Applications can be found online at www.swampscottma.gov, at Swampscott Town Hall or mailed to residents upon request. For more information, call 781-596-8850 x1226 or email [email protected].
