Apothca dispensary pledges $2,500 for families in need in Lynn

LYNN — Apothca dispensary in Lynn is pledging a $2,500 match donation for the New Lynn Coalition’s No Home Hungry holiday raffle, where 100 percent of the proceeds will fund New Lynn’s grocery-delivery program.

The program delivers fresh groceries to more than 500 of the most vulnerable Lynn residents per month.

Chief Executive Officer of Apothca Joseph Lekach said the business chose to work with the New Lynn Coalition because they believe in their mission.

“As deeply-ingrained members of the Lynn community, we want to do what we can to support groups like the New Lynn Coalition, and help them provide nourishment and sustenance to the members of our Lynn community who need help during the holidays,” Lekach said.

The coalition has more than 20 volunteers who help with sorting groceries and delivering them throughout the city.

A recipient of the coalition’s grocery-delivery program, who requested to remain anonymous, said they are disabled, so they have a hard time getting out of their apartment.

“I (have) lung problems too, so it was dangerous for me to leave during COVID,” the anonymous recipient said. “The New Lynn Coalition really got me by on some days I was very anxious. I’m very thankful.”

Lynn resident Marissa Pike volunteers weekly to deliver groceries, and said delivering for the coalition is rewarding, “especially when you are greeted by an extremely grateful family in need.”

The New Lynn Coalition has until Dec. 20 to raise $2,500 to receive the full matching donation from Apothca.

“We are incredibly grateful for Apothca’s contribution to its community,” the New Lynn Coalition said. “I don’t think you could ask for more. You contribute to a great cause for the community and can win a great prize as well. It’s a win-win.”

The prizes for the No Home Hungry holiday raffle include a beer and cocktail cart with more than $800 worth of beer, alcohol, bar tools, and bar snacks.

Other prizes include an electric-guitar starter kit and $200 in gift cards to Stop & Shop.

Raffle tickets are priced at one ticket for $10, three tickets for $20, and 10 tickets for $50.

Tickets can be purchased on CashApp at “$NewLynnCoalition” and through Venmo at “@NewLynnCoalition” under the business tab.

When sending money for the raffles, include the word “raffle,” your full name and phone number in the notes section.

For all other purchasing options, email [email protected].

The raffle will be drawn on Dec. 20.
