For the first time in more than 20 years, the Lynn Tech swim team took home a victory over Greater Lowell Tech when the Tigers pulled out a 101-84 win in the pool Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers were led by double-winner Zakariya Bidoudane, who won both the 200 individual medley as well as the 500 freestyle as an individual.
Other winners for Tech were Alberto Gerado in the 100 freestyle and Jeremiah Arzola in the 100 breaststroke. Rashaud Newhall finished second in the 200 freestyle.
The 200-medley relay team of Bidoudane, Arzola, Mario Rivera and Kyle Lindquist also took home a win, as did the 200-freestyle relay team of Arzola, Gerado, Lindquist and Vinnie Marino.
Tech (1-0 OR 0-1) swims against Minuteman Thursday (4).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Triton 45, Saugus 39
The Sachems couldn’t quite pull out the win in their season opener, but they did get a solid performance from Peyton DiBiasio, who notched 12 points. Fallon Millerick and Ashleen Escobar each scored six points in the loss.
Saugus (0-1) plays on the road at Danvers Friday (7).
Peabody 54, Masconomet 43
Behind a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double from Logan Lomasney, the Tanners pulled off a solid win to start the season.
Abby Bettencourt led the Tanners with 15 points and four steals, while Emma Bloom had seven points and five assists. Taylor Bettencourt (six points, six assists) and Isabel Bettencourt (nine rebounds) also played well in the win.
Peabody (1-0) hosts Beverly Friday night (7).
BOYS HOCKEY
St. Mary’s 4, Archbishop Williams 3
The young Spartans were thrown right into the fire Wednesday night, as they were forced to battle back from a 3-0 deficit to pull out the come-from-behind win.
The game-winning goal came from Nick Thornton in what was his first career varsity goal. Brady Bullock, Jack Hall and Christian Iacoviello each scored a goal in the win, while goalie Owen Giangrande made 23 saves to secure the win in net.
St. Mary’s (2-0) travels to Newburyport Saturday (2).
Beverly 5, Swampscott 1
The lone goal for the Big Blue was scored by Max Gadon, while Quinn Hitchcock added one assist. Goalie Jason Bouffard had a solid performance in his first varsity start, notching 38 saves in the loss.
Swampscott (0-1) is back in action Saturday afternoon (2) against Rockport.
Gloucester 8, Marblehead 1
Marblehead (0-1) has a full week off before facing Lowell Catholic next Wednesday (5:10).

Bishop Fenwick 2 Matignon 2
Lauren Diranian had one goal and one assist for the Crusaders in the draw Wednesday evening. Emma Perry added one goal, while Grace Morey had one assist.
Fenwick (1-0-1) travels to Archbishop Williams Saturday (7).

The Eagles remained undefeated behind wins from Brandon Goes (106 pounds), Alex Schaeublin (113), Elias Hajali (120), Tyler Knox (126), Adam Schaeublin (132), Ryan DeSouza (145), Rawson Iwanicki (152), Ethan Barnes-Felix (160), Matt Mitchell (170), Zach Richardson (182), Marc Pineiro (195), Jack Blizard (220) and Charlie Smith (285).
St. John’s Prep (5-0) will compete in the Salem Tournament this Saturday (9).
