Behind a massive effort from junior Kellyn Preira, the St. Mary’s girls basketball team remained undefeated on the season with a 66-40 win over Austin Prep in a Catholic Central League battle on the road Thursday night.
Preira was the star of the night for the Spartans, putting up an incredible double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Through the first three games of the year, Preira is averaging more than 20 points per game.
St. Mary’s (3-0) takes on First Baptist Academy Saturday (12).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynn English 71, Malden 30
The Bulldogs got a pair of big performances in the victory, with Jari Perez notching 25 points to lead the way and Makenzie Acevado following close behind with 18 points.
English (2-0) returns to the court Tuesday (6) on the road at Medford.
Revere 56, Somerville 20
The Patriots got another big performance from Carolina Bettero (14 points, four rebounds, three steals), while Skyla DeSimone (five points, seven steals, three assists) and Bella Stama (four points, three steals, two rebounds, two blocks) also played well in the win.
Revere (2-0) travels to Lynn Classical Tuesday (7).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Chelsea 52, Lynn Classical 51
The Rams went back and forth with their Greater Boston League foe on the road, but Classical couldn’t pull out the win in the end.
Jayven Soto led the way for the Rams with 18 points, while Tyler Wilson added 15 points in the loss.
Classical (1-1) travels to Revere Tuesday (7).

Vincent Nichols led the way for the Patriots with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Jack D’Ambrosio had nine points and eight rebounds. Sal DeAngelis added eight points and four assists.

The Rams got wins from Daniel Puma in the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke, Sydney Finnigan in the 500 freestyle, Ava Anderson in diving and the medley relay team of Puma, Finnigan, Yassine Bakhouch and Camille Mendonca.
