SAUGUS — A car hit the entrance to the North Shore Physicians Group on Broadway Friday morning, after the driver accidentally put her car into reverse gear.
The Saugus Fire Department received the call about the accident at 11:43 a.m., said Fire Capt. Rick Porter.
When Porter arrived on scene at 1069 Broadway, he saw one of the medical professionals from the North Shore Physicians Group, which is affiliated with Salem Hospital, checking on the elderly female driver. No one was injured in the accident, but an ambulance took the woman to a hospital for evaluation.
She hit the entrance to the center, which shattered glass in one of the doors.
“We spoke to the building owner,” said Porter. “Seemed like all superficial damage, with broken glass and the door slightly jammed.”
A building inspector came to check out the building for structural damage.
“Luckily, no one was at the door or on the sidewalk,” Porter said.
Laura Fleming, a spokesperson for Salem Hospital, also described the damage as minor. She said that normal operations of the health center are continuing.
Fleming added that the driver who was parked in front of the building put the car into reverse accidentally.
Patients who have appointments can enter through the laboratory door located to the right from the main entrance. The main entrance will be boarded up before it is repaired.
