LYNNFIELD — For the second time in the past three years, a Moulton Drive home has been the object of SWAT-team activity.
Police responded to a complaint received at approximately 11:15 p.m. Friday about a loud party with underage drinking at 170 Moulton Drive. By the time order was restored several hours later, one man had been arrested, one female had been taken by ambulance to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and two female juveniles had been detained Saturday at the police station, the first at 2:03 a.m. and the other at 4:34 a.m.
Edward Raymond Allen, 24, whose address is listed by police as 170 Moulton Drive, is facing charges of kidnapping, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, keeping a noisy and disorderly house, providing liquor to persons under the age of 21, and disturbing the peace.
Mutual aid was requested from Saugus, Peabody and the Massachusetts State Police. A NEMLEC (Northeast Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council) SWAT team was dispatched and activated. The Post Office Square parking lot at 600 Salem St. served as a staging area.
Upon arrival, police reported a large party with underage drinking.
According to the police report, the homeowner did not want to open the door. Police observed underage people fleeing the scene out of the back of the house into the surrounding neighborhood. A Locksley Road resident called the station several times and spoke to an officer, saying that kids were cutting through his yard, but he was unsure if there was any damage. The police log reported that while officers were attempting to make contact with the people inside the house, “someone yelled that they had a gun and not to come in.”
Up to eight illegally-parked vehicles that were impeding traffic, hydrants or access were towed; none of them were listed as being owned by Lynnfield residents. Police records indicated that the owners of many of the vehicles parked in connection with the party hailed from out of town, including the communities of Lynn; Swampscott; Revere; North Andover; Middleton; Granby; Norwell; Bristol, R.I.; Scituate; Marshfield; Andover; Lynn; Melrose; Cohasset; and Atlanta, Ga.
Lynnfield assessors’ records show the home is owned by U.S. Bank Trust, which purchased the home in 2017.
In March 2018, Lynnfield Police and several neighboring units and a SWAT team responded to the same residence to investigate a report of a distraught and possibly armed man, according to then-Chief David Breen. An unnamed neighbor said she observed several police units armed with dogs, rifles and other weapons surrounding the home and adjacent properties. Breen said the 2018 incident ended peacefully after several hours and no charges were filed.
