This mother who wrote to Item Santa is in need of help this Christmas season. She is a single mother of two boys, one of whom she just recently had. Because she was pregnant, she had to move out of a family shelter, and was left taking care of her two sons by herself.
“I am a single mother with no help, and hopefully The Salvation Army can help me this year,” she wrote to Item Santa.
This mother is also currently out of work because of her baby. She receives some assistance from the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), but said the little money she receives goes to paying rent, bills, and the necessities to take care of her family. Unfortunately, this leaves very little money for Christmas presents for her two sons this year.
Help this mother give her boys the Christmas every child deserves.
Now in its 55th year, the Item Santa fund helps to make Christmas brighter for the needy. To donate, clip the coupon in The Item and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, 85 Exchange St., Lynn, MA 01901.
