School Sports Roundup: Peabody boys basketball knocks off Pioneer Charter

The Peabody boys basketball team came out of the Christmas break with some real fire Monday night, getting a number of contributions to take home a 62-37 win over Pioneer Charter at home. 

Luke Roan led the way for the Tanners with 11 points, while Nathan Braz was close behind with 10 points. Anthony Forte added nine points, while Nick Soper and Raphel Laurent each scored six points. 

Peabody (2-2) is right back in action Tuesday afternoon (2) when it takes on Revere in the opening round of the Winthrop Christmas Tournament.

Skyla DeSimone was the top performer in the loss for the Patriots, notching 13 points. 

Revere (2-2) will play Danvers in the consolation game Tuesday (4:30).

BOYS HOCKEY

Christie Serino Christmas Tournament

at Valley Forum, Malden

Austin Prep 3, St. Mary’s 0

The game was a scoreless tie until late in the second period, when Austin Prep jumped ahead and never looked back. 

St. Mary’s (3-1-1) will take on Franklin in the consolation game Tuesday (5).

Marblehead 4, Beverly 0

The Magicians picked up their first win of the season with the shutout victory at Talbot Rink.

Connor Jalbert scored two goals to lead the offensive effort, while Christopher Locke and Hayden Leveroni each scored one goal. Aidan Jalbert added two assists, while goalie Nick Peters made 30 saves to earn his first shutout of the season.

Marblehead (1-3-0) is now off until Jan. 5 (6:30) when it hosts Saugus at Rockett Arena.
