The Bishop Fenwick boys hockey team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday afternoon, notching a 5-3 victory over Catholic Central League foe Bishop Feehan in the opening round of the Catholic Memorial Christmas Tournament at Warrior Ice Arena in Boston.
Max Vieira led the offensive attack for Fenwick with two goals, while Kevin Wood, Manny Alvarez-Segee and Matt O’Connor each scored one goal. Goalie Dillon Bloom made 19 saves to secure the win.
Fenwick (1-2-0) moves on to the championship game of the tournament Wednesday (3) against Catholic Memorial.

Hamilton-Wenham 3, Swampscott 2 (OT)
Despite tying up the game with just 22.3 seconds left in the game, the Big Blue couldn’t quite complete the comeback in an overtime loss Tuesday night.
Senior Zack Pierce and sophomore Kody Langevain each scored one goal in the loss for the Big Blue.
Swampscott (2-3-0) will now make a trip into Boston for a game against Essex Tech at Warrior Ice Arena on Saturday (4).

Franklin 3, St. Mary’s 2 (OT)
The Spartans battled back and forth all evening long, but Franklin notched two unanswered goals to tie the score and later win the game in overtime.
Jake Desmarais was the offensive producer for the Spartans, scoring both goals in the loss.
St. Mary’s (3-2-1) travels to BC High Sunday afternoon (12).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Bishop Fenwick 73, Salem Academy 56
As has been the case for much of the season to this point, the Crusaders had multiple players score in double figures en route to the victory.
Mike Yentin led the way with 23 points in the win, while Jason Romans was close behind with 21 points. Che Hanks added 12 points, while Robert Greener had nine points and six rebounds.
Fenwick (4-0) is now off until Tuesday (6:30) when it hosts Arlington Catholic.
KIPP 50, Somerville 47
Jaythean Im led the way for the Panthers with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Jhoan Peralta also had a big game with 15 points and five assists.
KIPP (1-2) plays on the road at Amesbury Thursday (6).

Lynnfield (0-4) hosts Stoneham Thursday (5).

Winthrop 67, Pioneer Charter II 48
The Vikings opened up the first annual edition of the tournament with a convincing win behind a pair of senior captains.
The duo of Luca Zanelli and Chris Cappuccio paced the offense all game long, as Zanelli led the way with 24 points and Cappuccio was right behind with 22. Senior Mikey Chaves also had a solid game, finishing with 13 points.
Winthrop (2-2) will face Peabody in the championship game Thursday (2).
Peabody 43, Revere 40
After a back-and-forth battle from start to finish, Tanners sophomore Anthony Forte knocked down what would eventually become the game-winning 3-pointer with just three seconds left in the game. Revere had a chance to tie it at the buzzer with a three, but the shot didn’t fall.
Forte led the way for Peabody with 17 points in the win, while Nick Soper and Colin Berube also played well for the Tanners.
Peabody (3-2) will face Winthrop in the championship game Thursday (2).
The Patriots were led by junior Sal DeAngelis, who finished with 18 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Revere (1-2) will face Pioneer Charter in the consolation game Thursday (12).

The Patriots bounced back from a tough loss to pull out the win behind a 14-point performance from Haley Belloise.
Belma Velic added 10 points in the win, while Skyla DeSimone scored eight points and was named Revere’s representative as one of the invitational’s all-stars.
Revere (3-2) travels to Lynn English Tuesday (6).
WRESTLING
Lowell Holiday Tournament
St. John’s Prep — First place (205 points)
The Eagles took home the trophy at the Lowell Holiday Tournament behind two individual champions, with Tyler Knox winning the title at 126 pounds and Rawson Iwanicki taking first at 152 pounds.
The Eagles also got a second-place finish from Adam Schaeublin at 132 pounds, a third-place finish from Alex Schaeublin at 113 pounds and a sixth-place finish from Charlie Smith at 285 pounds.
St. John’s Prep (12-0) will wrestle Thursday (10) in a quad meet against Xavier, H.H. Ellis Vo-Tech and Simsbury.
