SWAMPSCOTT — A 33-year-old Lynn man has been identified as the passenger who died in a car crash that occurred early Wednesday morning on Paradise Road, the Essex County District Attorney’s office said.
Christopher Mateo died after a 2005 Honda Accord lost control and crashed into a tree on the northbound side of Route 1A near 245 Paradise Road. The driver of the vehicle, a second adult man who has not been identified, was critically injured in the crash, the DA’s office said.
The single-car crash occurred at about 1:45 a.m. It is under investigation by the Swampscott Police Department, State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services sections, and the Essex County District Attorney’s office.
