SAUGUS ― David Woodworth, Colin Wildman, Dominic Imbrogna, and Michael Kallelis will be honored by the Board of Selectmen in January after achieving Eagle Scout status as members of the town’s Troop 61.

While the Board of Selectmen has not yet released an official date for their acknowledgement, Troop 61 has announced that they will hold a Court of Honor for the four boys on Jan. 15.

Board of Selectman Vice Chair Debra Panetta said the selectmen will present certificates of recognition to each of the Eagle Scouts for their accomplishments.

“It’s very exciting to become an Eagle Scout; congratulations to all four of these boys,” Panetta said. “It’s a huge honor.”

Corinne Riley, also a member of the board, echoed Panetta’s remarks to the four boys on their achievement.

“Reaching Eagle Scout is quite an accomplishment,” she said. “Recognizing them is an honor, knowing how hard they worked to achieve it, and deservedly so. They certainly have reached a milestone in their lives and will no doubt continue to strive to be successful and respected young adults in their future. I wish them well and I hope they achieve all their goals and whatever lies in front of them in life.”

Scouts have to earn all Boy Scouts of America ranks in order, starting with Tenderfoot. Aspiring Eagle Scouts also have to be active in the troop for at least six months as a Life Scout; show dedication to Scout Oath and Scout Law; provide references from family, work, faith, and other community groups; earn 21 merit badges; serve a minimum of six months in a leadership position; propose, plan, and carry out a service project; attend a Scoutmaster Conference; and, finally, pass a board of review.

In 2019, only eight percent of all Scouts earned the Eagle Scout rank, according to the Boy Scouts of America.
