The St. Mary’s girls basketball team returned to the court with a bang Tuesday night, getting a full team effort to pick up a 55-38 win over Catholic Central League foe Cathedral at Tony Conigliaro Gymnasium.
Yirsy Queliz continued her solid start to the season with a team-high 16 points, while Niya Morgen was close behind with 15 points. Kellyn Preira added 11 points in the victory.
St. Mary’s (7-1) returns to the court Friday evening (6:30) for a road date with perennial rival Bishop Fenwick, which is also among one of the top teams in the state this year.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynnfield 56, Collegiate Charter Lowell 10
The Pioneers picked up their first win of the season on the road Tuesday evening.
Isabella George had a big game in the win for the Pioneers with 18 points, while Erika Pasquale notched 12 points.
Lynnfield (1-3) plays on the road at Triton Friday (6:30).
Marblehead 45, Winthrop 29
For the Vikings, Lily Conway led the way with 11 points in the loss.
Winthrop (3-3) travels to Danvers Friday (7).

BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 67, Cathedral 52
The Spartans picked up another key Catholic Central League victory on the road Tuesday.
Ali Barry had a great offensive game, leading the Spartans with 19 points in the win. Omri Merryman continued his strong season with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Henri Miraka notched 12 points in the victory.
St. Mary’s (8-1) hosts Bishop Fenwick Friday (6:30).
Arlington Catholic 63, Bishop Fenwick 61
The three-headed offensive attack of Che Hanks (18 points), Jason Romans (16 points) and Mike Yentin (14 points) led the way for the Crusaders in the loss.
Fenwick (4-1) travels to St. Mary’s Friday (6:30).
Peabody 66, Danvers 48
Anthony Forte had a big game for the Tanners with 18 points and five steals, while Colin Berube and Luke Roan each scored 14 points in the win. Aneudy Medrano had a big game off the bench for the Tanners.
Peabody (5-2) travels to Salem Friday (7).
Salem 70, Gloucester 33
Angel Tejada led the way for the Witches with 19 points, while Darlin Santiago (14 points) and Treston Abreu (11 points) also scored in double figures. Brayson Green added nine points, while Chris Qirjazi notched eight points and eight rebounds.
Salem (5-0) hosts Peabody Friday (7).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Austin Prep 7, Bishop Fenwick 2
Zoe Elwell and Lauren Diranian each scored one goal in the loss for the Crusaders.
Fenwick (2-2-1) returns to the ice Saturday (TBD) against St. Joseph Prep.
