The Saugus hockey team had four different goal scorers on the night and got a complete team effort in a 4-2 victory over Northeastern Conference foe Swampscott in a bout at Kasabuski Rink Wednesday night.
Chris Regnetta led the way with one goal and one assist for the Sachems, while Massey Ventre, Jason Caron and Dante Mauro each scored one goal. Goalie Matt Smith played well in net to earn the win.
Saugus (3-4-0) hosts Gloucester Saturday night (7:50).
For Swampscott, Kody Langevain had one goal and one assist to lead the way. Derek Faia added one goal in the loss, while Quinn Hitchcock notched one assist.
Swampscott (2-5-1) hosts Winthrop Saturday night (7:30).
BOYS HOCKEY
Winthrop 3, Gloucester 1
Ari Hain had one goal and one assist to lead the way for the Vikings, while JD Parker and Jack Hayes each scored one goal. Pete Silverman and Michael Holgersen each notched one assist in the win.
Winthrop (2-3-0) travels to Swampscott Saturday night (7:30).
Austin Prep 3, Bishop Fenwick 2 (OT)
The Crusaders battled back from behind to take a lead into the third period, but Austin Prep scored late to force overtime before netting the game-winning goal just a minute into the extra frame.
Max Vieira and Ralph Juffre each scored one goal in the loss for the Crusaders.
Fenwick (2-5-0) plays on the road at Arlington Catholic Saturday night (8).
St. John’s Prep 4, Malden Catholic 1
Cole Blaeser scored two goals in the victory for the Eagles, while Christian Rosa and Johnny Tighe each scored one goal. Jake Vana, Pierce Blaeser, Jack Doherty and Cam Umlah each had one assist.
St. John’s Prep (6-1-0) takes on St. John’s (Shrewsbury) Monday afternoon (2).
North Reading 5, Lynnfield 2
Will Steadman scored both goals for the Pioneers in the loss at Kasabuski Rink.

Lauren Diranian led the way for the Crusaders with a huge night, finishing with two goals and two assists. Emma Perry added two goals and one assist, while Penny Levine scored two goals. Abi Bruner had one goal and one assist, Lily Pregent scored one goal and Zoe Elwell had two assists. Madison Faragi and Jenna Oliver each had one assist in the win.
Fenwick (3-2-1) hosts Bishop Feehan Saturday evening (6).
Malden Catholic 3, Peabody/Lynnfield 1
Jenna DiNapoli scored the lone goal for the Tanners, while Penny Spack notched one assist in the loss.

After returning from an extended break, the Spartans had trouble dealing with what many consider to be the top-ranked team in the entire state Wednesday evening.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynnfield 42, Minuteman 20
Abby Adamo led the way with 12 points for the Pioneers, while Lucy Cleary was close behind with nine points. Jaelynn Moon (seven points), Maggie Ozanian (six points) and Isabella George (four points) also played well in the victory.
Lynnfield (2-5) hosts North Reading Friday (5:30).
BOYS INDOOR TRACK
Everett 64, Lynn Classical 19
The lone winner on the day for the Rams was Jose Cruz, who took first in the high jump with a height of five feet, six inches. Other solid performances came from Mohamed Dale in the 50-yard hurdles (second place, 8.5 seconds), Uriel Barrios in the 55-meter dash (second place, 6.1) and Alex Gonya in the one-mile (second place, 6:20.7).
Somerville 68, Lynn English 8
The lone winner for English was Stephen Srey in the shot put (40-1/4), while Ernie Panais finished second in the 50 dash (6.4).
GIRLS INDOOR TRACK
Lynn English 50, Somerville 30
Kendra Malcolm was a double-winner for the Bulldogs, placing first in the high jump (4-4) and the 50 dash (6.9). Other winners for English were Joseiris Chiari in the shot put (26-8 1/2), Aida Bellai in the 300 (51.5) and Alicia Ramirez in the two-mile (15:54.2).
Everett 71, Lynn Classical 5
The Rams got solid performances from Ester Merida DeLeon in the high jump (fourth place, 4-0) and Jastrame Pierresin in the 600 (third place, 2:55.3).
SWIMMING
Lynn Classical 83, Lynn English 56
Classical had multiple double-winners in the pool Wednesday, with Camille Mendonca placing first in diving and the 50-meter freestyle, Aleana Benedetto winning the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle and Sydney Finnigan taking first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Daniel Puma won the 200 individual medley.
In the relay events, the team of Mendonca, Finnigan, Puma and Ethan Wilson won the 200 medley relay and the team of Mendonca, Finnigan, Benedetto and Yassine Bakhouch won the 400 medley relay.
WRESTLING
St. John’s Prep 39, Malden Catholic 0
The Eagles picked up the win in their first dual meet of the season.
Winners for the Prep were Elias Hajali (120 pounds), Adam Schaeublin (138), Matt Mitchell (170), Zach Richardson (182), Dylan Greenstein (195), Jack Blizard (220) and Charlie Smith (285).
St. John’s Prep (20-0) hosts a quad meet against Saugus, Masconomet and Maimonides Monday morning (11).
