It was a banner day for Maggie Pierce and the St. Mary’s girls hockey program Saturday, as the senior joined a select group in Spartans history by scoring her 100th career point in a 5-2 victory over Catholic Central League foe Bishop Stang on the road at Hetland Memorial Arena in New Bedford.
Pierce — who in December was named the 2021 Item Player of the Year for field hockey — had two goals and one assist to reach the milestone Saturday.
Also adding to the offense in the win for the Spartans were Gabbi Oakes, Julia Lambert and Amanda Forziati, who each scored one goal.
St. Mary’s (4-2-1) travels to Andover Monday morning (11:30).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Bishop Fenwick 2, Arlington Catholic 1 (Sunday)
Abi Bruner and Abbey Millman each scored one goal in the win for the Crusaders, while Grace Morey, Emma Perry and Jenna Oliver each had one assist. Freshman goalie Ella Tucker played well to earn the win in net.
Fenwick (4-3-1) will battle rival St. Mary’s Saturday night (7:40) at Essex Sports Center.
Bishop Feehan 3, Bishop Fenwick 2 (Saturday)
Despite coming up just short on Senior Night, the Crusaders got goals from Skylar Dempsey and Lauren Diranian. Catherine Salvo and Abbey Millman each had one assist.
Newburyport 3, Marblehead 1
The lone goal on the day for the Magicians was scored by Ashley Piersol.
Marblehead (4-6-0) now has more than a week off before facing Medford/Malden on Jan. 26.
Winthrop 7, Gloucester 0
Emma Holmes and Talia Martucci each scored two goals in the win for the Vikings, while Mia Norris, Kendall Brant and Hannah Parker each scored one goal. Goalie Summer Tallent made nine saves to earn her 19th career shutout in net.
Winthrop (6-0-1) is off until Saturday night (7:30) when it plays on the road at Beverly/Danvers.
BOYS HOCKEY
St. John’s Prep 7, St. John’s (Shrewsbury) 5
Lynnfield native Christian Rosa scored two goals for the Eagles in the win, while fellow Lynnfield native Tommy Sarni added one goal. Cam Umlah scored his first career goal, while Ben McGilvry and Jake Vana each scored one goal. Theo Vetere had one assist in the victory.
St. John’s Prep (7-1-0) travels to Reading Thursday (7:45).
Winthrop 9, Swampscott 0
The Vikings got back to .500 on the season with a win at Larsen Rink Saturday afternoon.
JD Parker had a massive game with six goals to lead the offense, while Ari Hain, Nate Evangelista and Pete Silverman each scored one goal.
Winthrop (3-3-0) hosts Bishop Fenwick Wednesday (6:10).
Swampscott (2-6-1) travels to Hamilton-Wenham Monday (12).
Austin Prep 4, St. Mary’s 2
The Spartans fell behind by two goals early and could never make up the difference despite scoring in each of the last two periods.

Gloucester 9, Saugus 2
Massey Ventre scored both goals in the loss for the Sachems, while Jason Monahan and Chris Regnetta each had one assist.

Marblehead/Swampscott at Gronet Memorial Tournament — 4th Place (112 points)
Individual placers for Marblehead/Swampscott were Liam O’Brien (third place, 106 pounds), Connor O’Brien (third place, 113), Clive Connolly (fourth place, 126), Will Woodward (fourth place, 132), Noah Faverman (third place, 138), Ben Segee (fourth place, 152), Nicolai Tarason (second place, 160) and Ned Fitzgerald (second place, 220).

St. John’s Prep at Woburn Tournament — 1st Place (278.5 points)
The Eagles scored more than 100 points more than the second-place team to earn the tournament victory.
Tyler Knox was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament after taking the championship at 126 pounds. Other champions at their respective weight classes were Alex Schaeublin (113), Adam Schaeublin (132), Rawson Iwanicki (152), Matt Mitchell (170), Dylan Greenstein (195) and Jack Blizard (220).
Zach Richardson notched a third-place finish at 182 pounds, while Braedon Goes (106), Elias Hajali (120) and Charlie Smith (285) all notched fourth-place finishes.
St. John’s Prep hosts a quad meet against Saugus, Masconomet and Maimonides Monday morning (11).
